The All Progressives Congress (APC) National Vice Chairman for the South East, Dr. Ijeomah Arodigbu MBBS PhD, has commended the federal government’s Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) initiative, describing the recent viral videos of Nigerian students jubilating in Yobe State over the receipt of their upkeep allowances as a “beautiful testament to the impact of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.”

In a statement released on Thursday, Dr. Arodiogbu expressed immense joy while reacting to the widespread social media videos showing students of Yobe State University and other tertiary institutions in the state celebrating the credit alerts for their NELFUND upkeep allowances.
Dr. Arodiogbu noted that the scenes of jubilation underscore the reality of the current administration’s commitment to alleviating the financial burdens on Nigerian families and ensuring that no student is forced to abandon their education due to economic hardship.
“What we are witnessing in Yobe is not just about money; it is about hope restored. For years, our students have battled with harsh economic realities, and many have had to put their academic pursuits on hold. Seeing these young Nigerians jubilate because the Federal Government has continued to its promise to them is deeply heartwarming,” Dr. Arodiogbu stated.
He further stressed that the NELFUND scheme is a transformative, non-discriminatory program designed to cut across all geopolitical zones, ensuring equitable access to higher education regardless of background.
While celebrating the success recorded in Yobe and other parts of the North, the APC South East chieftain specifically used the opportunity to issue a clarion call to students across the five states of the South East (Abia, Anambra, Ebonyi, Enugu, and Imo).
He strongly urged all undergraduates students in the region who have not yet applied to immediately visit the official NELFUND portal (nelfund.gov.ng) to apply for both the tuition fees and the monthly upkeep allowances.
“I want to passionately appeal to our Igbo sons and daughters in various tertiary institutions across the South East and indeed the whole country to take full advantage of this historic opportunity. This is your right as Nigerian students, and President Tinubu’s administration is ready to fund your academic dreams. Do not be left out. Go online, apply, and ensure your details are properly captured through your institutions,” Dr. Arodiogbu urged.
He also called on Vice Chancellors, Rectors, and Provosts of tertiary institutions in the South East to actively sensitize their student bodies and streamline their institutional processes to align smoothly with NELFUND’s requirements, ensuring that South East students do not experience unnecessary bureaucratic delays.
Dr. Arodiogbu reaffirmed the APC’s unwavering commitment to the South East, promising that the region will continue to benefit from the people-oriented policies of the Tinubu-led administration.
