FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup: Hon. Princess Gloria Akobundu Salutes Nigeria’s Flamingoes for Crushing Brazil 3-1 and Cruising into the Final Says Like the Flamingoes, President Tinubu Will Humble Opponents in the 2027 Election

Hon. Princess Gloria Akobundu, PhD, fsi Secretary of Faith-Based Mobilisation (Christians) of the All Progressives Congress Presidential Campaign Council (APC PCC) and a key member of the APC PCC Women Mobilisation Wing, has hailed the Nigeria Flamingoes for their historic 3-1 semi-final victory over Brazil at the ongoing FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup in Morocco.

Princess Akobundu congratulated the young Nigerian girls, their coach Akeem Busari, and the entire technical crew for delivering a dominant performance that saw them become the first African side to reach the final of the tournament.

The Flamingoes struck three times in the second half after a goalless first period. Queen Joseph opened the scoring in the 56th minute, while Awawu Bashiru netted a brace in the 71st and 80th minutes to put the result beyond doubt. Brazil managed only a late consolation through Greise Kelly in the 89th minute. Nigeria will now face Japan in the final on Saturday, November 7.

Princess Akobundu described the result as a proud moment for the nation and a testament to the resilience, talent, and fighting spirit of Nigerian youth.

“Our Flamingoes have made history. They went into the semi-final against a strong Brazilian side, refused to be intimidated, and delivered a clinical performance that has taken them into the final for the first time,” she said.

“This victory is not just about football; it is a reflection of the Nigerian spirit  the same spirit of determination, excellence, and refusal to accept limitations that continues to define our people.”

Drawing a parallel with the political arena, the APC women leader expressed confidence that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu would similarly overcome challenges and humble his opponents in the 2027 general elections.

“Just as the Flamingoes rose to the occasion and crushed Brazil to book their place in the final, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, under the Renewed Hope Agenda, will continue to overcome every obstacle and deliver a decisive victory in the coming elections,” Akobundu stated.

“The same grit, focus, and winning mentality that our girls displayed on the pitch in Morocco is what the President and the APC embody. Nigerians will once again choose continuity, competence, and proven performance.”

She urged Nigerians, especially women and young people, to draw inspiration from the Flamingoes’ achievement and channel the same energy into supporting national development and the re-election of the Tinubu-Shettima ticket.

Princess Akobundu also called on well-meaning Nigerians to rally behind the Flamingoes as they prepare for the final against Japan, expressing optimism that the team would bring the trophy home and make Africa proud.

The victory marks Nigeria’s best-ever performance at the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup, surpassing their previous bronze medal finish in 2022.
