Hon. Princess Gloria Akobundu, PhD, FSI, Secretary, Faith Based Mobilisation (Christians) and Member Planning Committee of the APC PCC Women Directorate has advised over 2,000 women drawn from the five South East states and who were empowered with ₦100,000 each with wrappers at the All Progressives Congress Presidential Campaign Council (APC PCC) South East Women Stakeholders Dialogue held in Enugu to use the funds judiciously to grow their businesses and improve their livelihoods.
Princess Akobundu urged the women to treat the intervention as a seed for economic independence rather than a mere handout. She encouraged them to invest wisely, expand their enterprises, and contribute meaningfully to the development of their families and communities.
“This support is not for consumption. It is for production. Use the money carefully, grow your businesses, and let the results speak for themselves,” she charged the women, who received the empowerment packages with excitement and appreciation.
The dialogue brought together women stakeholders from Abia, Anambra, Ebonyi, Enugu, and Imo States under the APC PCC platform. The gathering focused on strengthening grassroots mobilisation, economic empowerment, and active participation of women in the political and economic process ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Beyond the financial support, the event provided a platform for networking, capacity building, and the sharing of ideas on how women can play more active roles in nation-building.
Participants were also encouraged to remain steadfast in supporting the progressive policies of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration.
Beneficiaries described the intervention as timely and impactful, noting that the funds and wrappers would significantly boost their small-scale businesses and trading activities.
Many of the women are traders, artisans, and micro-entrepreneurs who form the backbone of the informal economy in the South East.
She stressed that the Tinubu-led administration remains focused on creating opportunities that enable women to thrive and contribute to national growth.
The South East Women Stakeholders Dialogue is part of broader efforts by the APC PCC to deepen engagement with critical stakeholders across the region and ensure that the dividends of democracy reach the grassroots.
