Hon. Princess Gloria Akobundu Phd, fsi, Secretary Faith Based Mobilisation (Christians) has disclosed that the All Progressives Congress Presidential Campaign Council (APC PCC) will partner with the Nigeria Inter-Religious Council (NIREC) and prominent church leaders nationwide on a coordinated national prayer and voter mobilisation programme in support of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election in 2027.
According to Hon. Akobundu, the partnership will establish a structured platform interfaith collaboration focused on moral rearmament, and responsible voter education and mobilisation.
“The APC PCC recognises the critical role of religious institutions in shaping national consciousness and promoting peaceful democratic participation,” she stated.
“Our proposed partnership with NIREC and church leaders is designed to harness the moral authority and grassroots reach of faith communities in support of prayer for the nation and active, peaceful voter mobilisation ahead of 2027.”
She explained that the collaboration will feature joint prayer sessions, interfaith dialogues, leadership engagements, and structured voter education programmes emphasising participation, peaceful conduct, and continuity of the Renewed Hope Agenda.
Hon. Akobundu noted that the initiative will be rolled out at national, zonal, and state levels, with particular attention to church networks, Christian associations, women fellowships, and youth groups. The partnership will also promote national unity, tolerance, and responsible citizenship.
“President Tinubu’s leadership has been defined by bold reforms, resilience, and a clear commitment to national development. As people of faith, we have a duty to intercede for wisdom, protection, and success while encouraging eligible citizens to register, collect their PVCs, and vote peacefully,” she added.
She emphasised that the proposed partnership with NIREC underscores the APC PCC’s commitment to inclusive engagement across religious and denominational lines.
The goal, she stressed, is not to politicise the pulpit but to provide a platform for spiritual support and civic responsibility that strengthens Nigeria’s democracy.
Hon. Akobundu further disclosed that the campaign council will work closely with church leaders and NIREC structures to ensure prayer activities and voter mobilisation efforts remain well-coordinated, peaceful, and impactful across the six geopolitical zones.
Stakeholders within the APC and the faith community have described the proposed partnership as timely and strategic, noting that it combines spiritual intercession with practical democratic engagement at a critical period in the nation’s political calendar.
The formal framework for the partnership is expected to be unveiled in the coming weeks, with initial coordination meetings already being planned between the APC PCC, NIREC representatives, and selected church leaders.
