Hon. Princess Gloria Akobundu, PhD, has expressed profound appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Chairman Apc Presidential Campaign Council for her re-appointment as Secretary, Faith-Based Mobilisation (Christian), of the All Progressives Congress Presidential Campaign Council (APC PCC).
In a statement issued following the announcement, Akobundu described the renewed mandate as both an honour and a solemn call to deeper service. She said the appointment reflects the President’s confidence in the indispensable role of the Christian community in national development, nation-building and the successful delivery of the Renewed Hope Agenda.
Akobundu pledged continuous and intensified engagement with Christendom across the country in support of President Tinubu’s re-election bid in 2027. She stressed that Christian leaders, Bishops, pastors, congregations and faith-based organisations remain critical partners in grassroots mobilisation, voter education, peaceful participation in the democratic process and the sustenance of ongoing reforms.
“I am deeply grateful to Mr President for this renewed trust and responsibility,” Akobundu stated. “As Secretary of Faith-Based Mobilisation (Christian) of the APC PCC, I assure continuous engagement with church leaders, pastors, congregations and Christian organisations nationwide. Together, we will work diligently to ensure the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu so that the transformation already set in motion can be completed for the benefit of all Nigerians.”
She further noted that faith-based mobilisation is not limited to electoral activities but extends to promoting national unity, interfaith harmony, moral values and the peaceful coexistence of all Nigerians.
According to her, the Christian community has a unique capacity to mobilise families, communities and young people towards positive civic engagement while upholding the principles of peace, integrity and patriotism.
Akobundu, who also serves as a key member of the APC PCC Women Mobilisation Wing, highlighted the complementary nature of faith-based and women-focused mobilisation strategies.
She observed that women in the church form a significant voting bloc and that coordinated engagement with Christian women’s groups, youth fellowships and denominational networks will strengthen the overall campaign structure.
She called on Christian leaders and the faithful across the six geopolitical zones to remain prayerful, united and actively involved in the electoral process.
Akobundu urged them to use their platforms to encourage massive voter registration, collection of Permanent Voter Cards and peaceful participation on election day, while rejecting any form of violence, hate speech or division.
The re-appointment comes as the APC intensifies preparations for the 2027 general elections, with the Presidential Campaign Council undergoing reconstitution and formal inauguration.
Faith-based structures have been identified as a strategic component of the party’s broader mobilisation architecture, aimed at consolidating support among key demographic and interest groups.
Akobundu reaffirmed her commitment to working closely with the Director of Faith-Based Mobilisation (Christian), other officials of the directorate, zonal coordinators and state-level structures to ensure effective outreach. She expressed confidence that sustained engagement with Christendom will contribute significantly to a resounding victory for President Tinubu and the APC in 2027.
She concluded by praying for divine wisdom, strength and success for the President, the campaign council and all stakeholders committed to the continued progress of Nigeria under the Renewed Hope Agenda.
