The National Vice Chairman (South-East) of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr. Ijeomah Arodiogbu, has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for demonstrating strong leadership and national pride for declining to receive a special South African diplomatic delegation, describing the decision as a bold, patriotic, and principled defence of the dignity of Nigerian citizens.
“Na man you be, Mr. President. This is the kind of leadership Nigerians expect, a leader who understands that the dignity of Nigeria cannot be compromised. President Tinubu has demonstrated that Nigeria is a sovereign nation that deserves respect,” Dr. Arodiogbu stated.
President Tinubu declined to grant an audience to a high-level South African delegation led by the country’s Minister of International Relations and Cooperation, Ronald Lamola. The team had arrived in Abuja on Friday, July 24, carrying a special message from South African President Cyril Ramaphosa aimed at easing rising diplomatic tensions.
Dr. Arodiogbu praised the President for sending a clear message that Nigeria will no longer tolerate the continued targeting and harassment of its citizens in South Africa under the guise of diplomatic courtesy.
“Leadership is about defending the interests of your people and standing firm when necessary. President Tinubu has shown that Nigeria will engage the world as an equal partner, not as a subordinate,” he said.
He said the President’s actions demonstrate that Nigeria is entering a new era where the country’s interests will be defended while maintaining constructive relationships with other nations.
According to him, the Renewed Hope Agenda is not only about economic reforms but also about restoring confidence in Nigeria’s identity, influence and capacity to make independent decisions.
Dr. Arodiogbu concluded by urging Nigerians to continue supporting President Tinubu’s administration, saying history will remember leaders who stood firmly for the interests of their nation.
“Nigeria is back on the global stage. President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is showing the world that Nigeria is a nation of dignity, strength and confidence,” he stated.
