The National Vice Chairman (South-East) of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr. Ijeomah Arodiogbu, MBBS, PhD, has appointed Hon. Amb. Timothy Chukwuma Nwachukwu as Special Adviser on Media Policy and Strategic Engagement, in a strategic move aimed at strengthening the party’s communication architecture, public engagement, and policy advocacy across South-East geopolitical zone and beyond.
The appointment, announced by the office of the National Vice Chairman, underscores the Party’s determination to enhance structured, professional and responsive communication with stakeholders, the media and the general public across the South East geopolitical zone and beyond.
In a statement accompanying the appointment, Dr. Ijeomah Arodiogbu described the move as a strategic step towards strengthening the Party’s interface with the public and ensuring that the programmes, policies and achievements of the APC-led administration at both national and zonal levels are effectively articulated and understood.
“Effective communication is central to democratic governance and party building. The appointment of Amb. Timothy Nwachukwu as Special Adviser on Media Policy and Strategic Engagement is aimed at professionalising our public engagement, deepening stakeholder relations and ensuring timely, accurate and strategic dissemination of information,” Dr. Arodiogbu stated.
According to the APC South-East leadership, the new advisory role is expected to provide strategic direction in media relations, policy communication, public affairs, digital engagement, research, and stakeholder collaboration. It is also designed to enhance public understanding of the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and deepen the party’s interaction with citizens across the region.
He expressed confidence in Nwachukwu’s capacity to provide innovative communication strategies that will further reposition the office of the APC National Vice Chairman (South-East) as a leading platform for policy advocacy, citizen engagement, and regional political development.
Amb. Nwachukwu, a media strategist, public policy communications professional and law graduate, formerly served as Special Assistant on Communication, Embassy of Nigeria in Burundi, he is expected to coordinate strategic messaging, strengthen the office’s relationship with traditional and digital media platforms, develop policy communication initiatives, and promote issue-based political discourse that supports good governance and national development.
The appointment is also expected to strengthen collaboration with government institutions, development partners, civil society organisations, professional bodies, youth groups, and the private sector in advancing programmes that promote inclusion, economic empowerment, civic participation, and sustainable development across the South-East.
Political observers have described the appointment as a significant step towards modernising the APC’s communication strategy in the region, particularly at a time when strategic engagement, accurate information dissemination, and digital communication have become increasingly important in shaping public perception and democratic participation.
