APC South-East Leader Commends Voters, Party Leaders and Campaign Teams
The National Vice Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), South-East, Dr. Ijeomah Arodiogbu, has described the party’s victory in four of the five legislative bye-elections conducted across Gombe, Kano, Bauchi and Delta States as a significant demonstration of the support enjoyed by the party at the grassroots.
Dr. Arodiogbu said the outcome of the elections is “a foretaste of what Nigerians will witness in the 2027 general elections,” while commending APC members, candidates, party leaders, campaign teams and voters for their commitment to the democratic process.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) conducted the bye-elections on Saturday, September 19, 2026. The polls covered one federal constituency and four state constituencies.
APC candidates emerged victorious in four constituencies.
In Gombe State, Hon. Kallamu Usman MaiJama’a won the Gombe/Kwami/Funakaye Federal Constituency bye-election with 41,121 votes.
In Kano State, Hon. Husseini Datti secured victory in the Dawakin Kudu State Constituency with 22,890 votes.
In Delta State, Hon. Okolosi Ator won the Udu State Constituency seat with 8,724 votes.
In Bauchi State, Hon. Yakubu Ali emerged winner of the Disina State Constituency bye-election with 5,846 votes.
The APC did not, however, win all five contests. The Allied Peoples Movement (APM) won the Sakwa State Constituency seat in Bauchi State, making the overall result four seats for APC and one for APM.
Reacting to the results, Arodiogbu congratulated the victorious candidates and described their victories as an indication of the importance of sustained grassroots engagement, effective representation and connection with constituents.
He said the party would continue to strengthen its structures, engage citizens and communicate the policies and programmes of the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu administration to Nigerians.
“The outcome of these bye-elections is encouraging for our party. It demonstrates that where our party remains united, organised and connected to the people, we can earn their confidence through the ballot box. These victories are a foretaste of the 2027 election and a call for greater responsibility. The message is clear: we must continue to work, listen to the people and deliver purposeful representation.”
The APC National Chairman, Prof. Nentawe Goshwe Yilwatda, similarly congratulated the four successful APC candidates, saying their victories reflected the confidence placed in the party and its candidates by voters. He also urged the elected representatives to remain committed to purposeful representation.
