The National Vice Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), South East, and APC Presidential Campaign Council (PCC) South East Coordinator, Dr. Ijeomah Arodiogbu, MBBS, PhD, has hailed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for approving a ₦70,000 monthly transport allowance for public service workers.
The Federal Government reached the agreement with the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) on Tuesday, October 27, 2026, at a conciliation meeting held at the Federal Ministry of Labour and Employment in Abuja.
Under the resolution, workers across all levels of the public service will receive ₦70,000 monthly as transport support for a period of six months, beginning in November 2026. The intervention is aimed at cushioning the impact of rising living and transportation costs.
Reacting to the development, Dr. Arodiogbu described the approval as a clear demonstration of President Tinubu’s commitment to the welfare of Nigerian workers.
“I heartily commend President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for this timely and people-centred intervention,” Dr. Arodiogbu said. “The ₦70,000 monthly transport support for six months will go a long way in easing the burden on hardworking public servants across the country. It shows that this administration listens and responds to the genuine concerns of the Nigerian people.”
He continued: “At a time when transportation costs have become a major challenge for workers and their families, this palliative reflects the compassionate side of the Renewed Hope Agenda. President Tinubu continues to prioritise the wellbeing of the ordinary Nigerian even as he implements necessary economic reforms.”
Dr. Arodiogbu noted that the decision further underscores the Federal Government’s readiness to engage constructively with organised labour in the interest of industrial harmony and national stability.
“This is the kind of responsive leadership that builds trust between government and the people,” he added. “I urge all workers to continue to support the administration as it works to stabilise the economy and deliver lasting relief to Nigerians.”
The APC South East leader also expressed confidence that the intervention, alongside other ongoing welfare measures, would help improve the purchasing power of workers and contribute to economic recovery
