Hon. Gloria Akobundu Charges Women to Intensify Grassroots Mobilisation for President Tinubu’s Re-Election as APC PCC Women Directorate Holds South East Stakeholders Engagement and Town Hall Meeting

The Women Mobilisation Directorate of the 2027 All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council on Friday, 30 October 2026, successfully convened a major South East Women Stakeholders’ Engagement and Town Hall Meeting in Enugu State.

The high-profile gathering, which formed part of activities marking the formal flag-off of the 2027 APC Presidential Campaign Council, was convened by Her Excellency, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, CON, First Lady of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, through the Women’s Mobilisation Directorate of the Council.

Hon. Princess Gloria Akobundu, PhD, fsi, a key member of the APC Presidential Campaign Council (Women Mobilisation) and Secretary, Faith-Based Mobilisation of the APC PCC, played a leading role in hosting the event.

She warmly welcomed the National Women Leader of the APC, Hon. Dr. Mary Alile Idele; the Honourable Minister of Women Affairs, Hon. Iman Ibrahim Suleiman; Senator Abiodun Olujimi; and thousands of women stakeholders drawn from the five South East states of Enugu, Abia, Anambra, Imo and Ebonyi.

The event was also attended by the wife of the Enugu State Governor, Mrs. Nkechinyere Mbah, who served as Special Guest. She led the Enugu women contingent which included Hon. Ginika Tor, Hon. Oby Ajih and other notable women leaders from the state.

The meeting brought together women leaders, community influencers, party stakeholders and grassroots mobilisers in a carefully structured engagement designed to deepen women’s participation in the political process ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Participants engaged in robust dialogue, shared perspectives and examined practical strategies for expanding women’s roles in voter education, grassroots organisation and electoral mobilisation.

A major highlight of the programme was the distribution of cash grants of ₦100,000 each, together with women wrappers, to more than 2,000 women from across the South East.

The gesture was widely applauded by beneficiaries, who described it as a tangible demonstration of the APC’s commitment to women empowerment and inclusive development.

Addressing the large gathering, Hon. Gloria Akobundu charged the women to intensify mobilisation efforts in their various communities. She urged them to take the message of the President’s performance and the party’s programmes to every ward and polling unit, stressing the need for sustained, organised and result-oriented engagement ahead of the 2027 polls.

In response, the highly appreciative women stakeholders resolved to mobilise fellow women across their wards and polling units to ensure massive support for the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. Many of the beneficiaries openly pledged to work tirelessly as grassroots ambassadors for the APC and the President’s second-term agenda.

The South East Women Stakeholders’ Meeting reinforced the party’s determination to place women at the centre of its mobilisation strategy. It also underlined the growing partnership between the APC Presidential Campaign Council Women Directorate and women leaders across the South East in the collective push for continuity and progress under President Tinubu’s leadership.

The event ended on a note of renewed commitment, unity and determination among South East women to play a decisive role in shaping the outcome of the 2027 general elections.
