APC NATIONAL VICE CHAIRMAN SOUTH-EAST UNVEILS INFOGRAPHICS SHOWCASING PRESIDENT TINUBU’S LANDMARK ACHIEVEMENTS IN THE HEALTH SECTOR

The APC National Vice Chairman (South-East), Dr. Ijeomah Arodiogbu, MBBS, PhD, has unveiled a comprehensive infographic highlighting the landmark achievements of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration in Nigeria’s health sector, reaffirming the Federal Government’s commitment to delivering quality, affordable and accessible healthcare under the Renewed Hope Agenda.

The infographic, released by the Office of the APC National Vice Chairman (South-East), outlines key milestones recorded since President Tinubu assumed office in May 2023, demonstrating significant progress in health insurance coverage, primary healthcare revitalisation, health financing, workforce development and specialised medical infrastructure.

According to Dr. Arodiogbu, the infographic serves as a factual presentation of the administration’s reforms aimed at improving the well-being of Nigerians through strategic investments and sustainable healthcare policies.

Among the major highlights contained in the infographic is the expansion of the National Health Insurance Scheme, with enrolment increasing to over 22 million Nigerians, alongside enhanced healthcare financing through increased capitation and fee-for-service payments. The administration has also expanded access to life-saving services, including free caesarean sections and emergency obstetric care under the National Health Insurance Authority.

The infographic further showcases the extensive revitalisation of Primary Healthcare Centres across the country through the Basic Health Care Provision Fund (BHCPF), with more than 3,000 Primary Healthcare Centres upgraded, increased funding for primary healthcare, and improved access to quality healthcare services in communities nationwide.

It also highlights measurable improvements in maternal and child health outcomes, including reductions in maternal and newborn mortality, increased skilled birth attendance, expanded vaccination coverage and strengthened antenatal care services.

On health financing, the publication notes significant increases in budgetary allocations to the health sector, adoption of the Sector-Wide Approach (SWAp) to improve coordination among stakeholders, and greater investments aimed at building a resilient healthcare system.

The administration’s investment in human resources for health is equally featured, including the recruitment of over 20,000 frontline health workers, approval of funds to address health workers’ welfare, and the deployment of 774 National Health Fellows to strengthen healthcare delivery across all local government areas.

The infographic also outlines ongoing investments in specialised healthcare, including the development of tertiary health institutions, cancer centres of excellence, digital health systems, local pharmaceutical manufacturing and other critical reforms designed to modernise Nigeria’s healthcare sector.

Dr. Arodiogbu stated that the achievements underscore President Tinubu’s determination to build a stronger healthcare system capable of meeting the needs of Nigerians while laying the foundation for long-term national development.

“A healthy population is fundamental to national productivity and economic growth. The reforms being implemented under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration demonstrate a clear commitment to strengthening healthcare delivery, expanding access to quality medical services and improving health outcomes for all Nigerians,” he said.

The APC South-East leadership reaffirmed its support for the Federal Government’s ongoing health sector reforms and pledged to continue enlightening Nigerians on the achievements of the Renewed Hope Agenda through evidence-based public information campaigns.
