OFFICIAL PRESS STATEMENT – 27th September, 2026

The Forum of Media Assistants to APC NWC Members (FOMATAN) has read the watery, abusive press statement by one Phrank Shaibu of the Atiku/ADC Campaign Council attacking our National Publicity Secretary, Dr. Felix Morka.

We rise to set the record straight and to declare our total, unflinching solidarity with Dr. Felix Morka.

It is quite appalling to watch the ADC campaign group and their presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar resort to a campaign of calumny, propaganda and smear campaigns against the candidature of His Excellency Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR. Instead of telling Nigerians what they will do differently, they have chosen to trade insults and recycle debunked falsehoods.

Dr. Morka spoke the truth Nigerians already know: Alhaji Atiku Abubakar is unfit, unprepared and unelectable. The ADC response is a classic case of a drowning man resorting to insults because he has no message for Nigerians.

1. On Corruption: Atiku cannot run away from his own record. Nigerians have not forgotten the PTDF scandal, the Siemens bribery probe, the U.S. Senate report that documented over $40m in suspicious wire transfers involving his fourth wife, Jennifer Douglas, and the damning verdict of former President Obasanjo who described him in black and white. You cannot gaslight Nigerians. An acquittal by technicality is not a certificate of integrity.

2. On The Failed Drug Smear Against President Tinubu: The ADC has recycled a 30-year-old, thoroughly debunked falsehood that has been litigated and trashed. President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has been investigated, has governed Lagos, was cleared by INEC, contested, won, and was affirmed by the Supreme Court. No court in Nigeria or the U.S. has ever convicted him. This desperate attempt to launder fiction as affidavit is dead on arrival. While Atiku was busy trying to explain suspicious inflows, President Tinubu was building a modern Lagos.

3. On The Mambilla Hydropower Bribery Scam: Nigerians will not forget the $5.8 billion Mambilla hydroelectric power fraud. The same Leno Adesanya of Sunrise Power who got the controversial contract has been charged by EFCC, and international arbitration records show questionable payments of $500,000 and more to accounts linked to Atiku’s family and associates to influence the award of the contract. While Nigeria needed electricity, Atiku’s circle was allegedly collecting kickbacks. The tribunal questioned the payments, EFCC is prosecuting the scam, and Atiku has no explanation till date. This is why he is unfit to come near our national treasury.

4. On 2027: Atiku’s 2027 presidential ambition is dead on arrival. A man who has contested and lost 6 times, who abandoned his party after defeat, who is now shopping for a new platform in ADC because PDP has rejected him, cannot be taken seriously. He is a serial defector, a perpetual candidate and a political tourist. Nigerians are tired.

We want to advise the Atiku group to stop the gutter language and face the issues. Nigerians are asking: What did Atiku do in 8 years as Vice President? Where are the jobs, where are the industries? He cannot answer.

FOMATAN therefore:

• Passes a vote of absolute confidence on Dr. Felix Morka for his courage, clarity and professional defence of our great party.
• Describes Atiku Abubakar as a drowning political man seeking relevance by attacking a performing APC government.
• Declares that no amount of ADC press releases can save Atiku’s sinking 2027 ship.

President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda is working. The APC under National Chairman is stable and focused. Atiku should retire honourably and stop disgracing himself with press releases written in anger.
