The All Progressives Congress (APC) Southeast Zone has issued a firm statement on the growing insecurity and recent attacks targeting Christian communities across Nigeria. The zonal leadership expressed solidarity with victims, reaffirmed its unwavering support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, and called for decisive, inclusive actions to restore peace, justice, and national stability.
The zone also welcomed international concern and engagement, particularly from the United States, but emphasized that such interventions must respect Nigeria’s sovereignty and ongoing domestic efforts to secure lives and rebuild trust among citizens.
National Tragedy and Humanitarian Concern
The APC Southeast leadership noted with deep sadness the recurring violence in several parts of the country, including the brutal attacks that have led to loss of lives, destruction of property, and displacement of families. The leadership described these incidents as inhumane and unacceptable, stressing that every Nigerian regardless of religion or ethnicity deserves protection, safety, and dignity under the law.
The party extended heartfelt sympathy to all affected individuals, families, and communities, acknowledging the pain, fear, and uncertainty such tragedies have caused. It also called for immediate humanitarian relief, improved security coordination, and stronger accountability mechanisms to bring perpetrators to justice.
Unwavering Support for President Tinubu
Reaffirming its full confidence in President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the APC Southeast praised the administration’s ongoing efforts to strengthen national security, promote inter-religious harmony, and sustain constructive diplomatic engagement with international partners.
The leadership urged the President to continue demonstrating courage and fairness in his response to the crisis, ensuring that decisions are guided by the principles of justice, inclusivity, and compassion. It expressed optimism that with the right policy direction and sustained community cooperation, the administration will restore peace and stability across the country.
Addressing the Root Causes of Insecurity

The APC Southeast emphasized that tackling insecurity requires a holistic and multi-layered approach. Beyond military intervention, the leadership called for investment in social welfare, youth empowerment, and job creation to address the socio-economic grievances that fuel extremism and communal conflict.
It also underscored the importance of improved intelligence gathering, community-based policing, and greater synergy between security agencies, traditional institutions, and local communities. The zone noted that unity, dialogue, and social justice remain Nigeria’s most effective weapons against division and violence.
Constructive International Engagement
Acknowledging the global concern expressed by the United States and other international partners, the APC Southeast called for balanced and constructive collaboration that respects Nigeria’s sovereignty. The leadership encouraged continued diplomatic dialogue, humanitarian assistance, and technical cooperation that support peacebuilding, rather than external interference in domestic affairs.
The zone affirmed that global engagement should align with Nigeria’s own development priorities and contribute meaningfully to strengthening the nation’s democratic and security institutions.
Commitment to Unity and National Progress
The APC Southeast reaffirmed its total commitment to Nigeria’s peace, stability, and progress. It pledged to work closely with the federal government and other stakeholders to promote inclusive governance, social justice, and sustainable economic growth.
The leadership expressed confidence that under President Tinubu’s leadership, Nigeria will overcome its present challenges and emerge stronger, more united, and more resilient. It urged citizens to remain hopeful, law-abiding, and committed to the ideals of national unity and shared prosperity.
